#03 [3 Day Safari]
Mount Elgon National Park, Sipi Falls
Sipi Falls, "the most beautiful and romantic waterfall in the whole of Uganda." (Lonely Planet Guide)

Sipi is an ideal place to relax in the warm mountain sun and to go for ambles in the shambas – homestead gardens – of the local Sebei people. The camp is built around a croft-like house originally built as a Governor's retreat, on a cliff directly overlooking the mesmerising Sipi Falls and the Karamajong plains. Sipi is about 4-5 hours' drive from Kampala, passing the Source of the Nile at Jinja. It is a convenient stop when visiting Kenya and travelling on to the renowned Kidepo Valley National Park in Northern Uganda.

DAY 1. Depart for Sipi in Eastern Uganda through Mabira Forest and past vast sugar cane and tea plantations, visiting Ssezibwa Falls en route. Arrive in time for a late lunch. Rest of the day at leisure at Sipi Falls Rest Camp. Dinner and overnight at Sipi Falls Rest Camp/Crows Nest/Mt. Elgon National Park Cottages.

DAY 2. After a cup of coffee or breakfast as you decide, an optional morning hike to either the Mount Elgon Forest Exploration Centre for guided walks or a ramble through the local Sabiny's shambas returning in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon, take a gentle walk to the bottom of the Falls and possibly walk up to the neighbouring Mnarya Caves. Dinner and overnight at Sipi Falls Rest Camp/Crows Nest/Mt. Elgon National Park Cottages.

DAY 3. After breakfast depart Sipi Falls for Jinja and Visit Bujagali Falls, the well-known White Water rafting base and the Source of the Nile in Jinja. Have lunch in Jinja.
